Discsonline Original Site Design |
Discsonline (the online web name for Disc Co) was originally designed using a standard template that came with the ecommerce solution supplied by another design company. After around 4 years of running the same design with a few minor changes to attempt to brighten up the design, We re-designed the entire site from scratch.
This involved learning how the ecommerce system worked, and how to integrate it into our design. This was a lot more straightforward than we originally anticipated, and is why we now use this as our ecommerce solution. |
The original design was stuck in the past, using bright garish colours, we decided on a colour theme to suit the modern technical side of the IT industry, choosing blues and silver/grey to compliment the design and bring the site more in keeping with modern designs.
Other key features that were added to the site include:
- Related product links, means that Disc Co can add suggested and related products to their customers in an attempt to entice visitors to purchase more products
- News section, Fully updatable to show of latest products and developments
- Re-Designed home page, giving not only product details but also banners to tell visitors about new products
- Non-Store content, Pages that are not linked to products, but allow extra content to be added. This means that you can find full details of what Disc Co do on their site, this was previously done by adding products with descriptions
- Accordion menu navigation, Using an accordion script, makes for a nicer user experience by sorting products in to groups rather than having a long list.
- SEO (Search Engine Optimisation), By fixing the way that products are listed, and also adding keyword laden content and links, Discsonline is very easy to find using Google and other search engines
This is a very good example of our ecommerce solution, and shows that an online store does not necessarily need to be bland in design.
